How Perfectionism Will Keep You From Accomplishing Your Goals

Is perfectionism keeping you from accomplishing your goals?

Have you ever said something like:

"This report has to be perfect before I turn it in."

Or...

"My presentation has to be perfect before I meet with the client."

Problem is, perfection is impossible. And continuously striving for it can stall you -- keep you from making progress on your goals and benefiting from the results.

Sometimes, the very thought that you aren't doing something "perfectly" can stop you in your tracks and stomp on your motivation.

Don't fall into that trap.

If, for example, you have to get a winning sales letter in the mail to achieve one of your business goals, take a shot at writing it. Aim for "good" -- and get it about 80 percent of the way there. Then test it. Once you have the test results, you will be able to aim for "better," because you will have more information to work with.

The 80 percent rule should be applied to every goal you set for yourself.

Let's say you have been slaving away at a project. You've been putting in long hours, and wearing yourself out. As a result, you are beginning to neglect your other job responsibilities -- and even your health.

It's time to put the 80 percent rule to work.

Say to yourself, "Have I achieved 80 percent of what I was aiming for with this project? If not, I will continue to work on it. If so, I will move forward."

Now this doesn't mean that you don't pour 100 percent of your energy and attention into your goals. It just means that you stop trying to make every detail perfect.

It took me 25 years to learn the 80 percent rule. Do not wait that long to take advantage of this time-saving, money-making, and goal-achieving insider secret. Had I implemented the 80 percent rule much earlier, my success would have come much faster and easier. (I also would have had a lot more time to spend with my family.)

If, like me, you are a perfectionist by nature, it won't be easy to keep your perfectionism at bay. It will take constant effort. But it will be well worth it.

Home Business Advice: How To Quiet Your Needy Inner Voice

I need to e-mail my brother this video of dogs and cats playing. It is so cute, he will love it.

I need to check my favorite sports team website to see who has been traded and all the recent rumors surrounding our star quarterback.

I need to call Robert to set up our golf game for next week.

I need to add to my blog so my readers will be updated on my latest insights into Obama's policies.

I need to go online and pick out a gift for Aunt Mary's birthday.

I really need to think about where I'm going for dinner and what I'm going to eat.

Do any of the above sound familiar? Of course they do!

I call this "ID Syndrome" -- the disease of Internal Distraction. And unless you learn how to defeat this affliction, you won't get anywhere at work or in life.

We all have personal thoughts like these while we are working. But there's a big difference between how high achievers deal with them and how people who never do better than the status quo deal with them. You see, high achievers recognize that these thoughts are WANTS -- not NEEDS. And that they should be dealt with outside of the working day.

Here's a little example of how problematic internal distractions can become...

Let's say you are working on a research project for your boss. While searching for the latest sales statistics, you come across an interesting quote that you "need" to send to your brother. And when e-mailing him the quote, you feel the "need" to tell him all about your barbecue last weekend. Once you send the e-mail, you get back to the research project. But, suddenly, the task that you've scheduled an hour for has turned into an hour and 15 minutes.

When this happens, it leaves you with one of two options for the rest of the tasks you've scheduled for the day.

Option A: You could reduce the time you've allocated for the next thing on your to-do list. (Which is all too easy if that task is not one of your favorites.)

Option B: You could stay an extra 15 minutes at the end of the day to complete your scheduled tasks.

These options might not sound too bad, but neither is desirable. Option A steals time from a task you have committed to and set aside time for. Option B reduces time with your family and friends -- time that is important to maintain balance in your life. Plus, allowing 15 minutes to disrupt your day is one thing, but imagine what would happen if you went 15 minutes over on every task.

Internal distractions may seem innocuous. But they can completely derail your schedule and put you off track.

Fortunately, it's pretty simple to eliminate them and be more productive during every working hour.

What you have to do is regulate your internal distractions by training your subconscious mind to honor your commitments and stay on schedule. Everybody has the same 24 hours in the day. But the successful people know how to manage their time to maximize what they get out of every minute.

Here's how they do it:

1. Set aside time in your schedule that DOES NOT intrude upon the time you've allocated for specific work and goal-oriented tasks.

Use that time to do such things as searching for a new book to read, catching up on sports scores, or setting up a coffee date with your best friend. Consider using part of your lunch hour or a few minutes in the evening to take care of these personal tasks.

2. Train your subconscious mind to recognize that you have set aside specific times for your personal tasks -- time that's separate from work.

This is key! Don't allow your personal activities to distract you from your other responsibilities.

3. When working on your personal tasks, do not let other work- or goal-oriented tasks intrude.

Make sure you spend the time you've set aside for personal tasks ONLY on those tasks. In other words, compartmentalize your time. Set aside a specific time for each task and honor the time assigned.

When you're tackling a personal task that you've scheduled, don't let your mind wander. And when you're doing a work task or working toward one of your long-term goals, direct your subconscious mind to stay in the moment. Say to yourself, "Stop. I am not dealing with that now. I have scheduled X time to take care of it. Right now, I need to concentrate on the task at hand."

External distractions -- a broken water pipe, a sick child, a construction site setting up outside your office -- are often outside of your control. Internal distractions are of your own making and, therefore, within your control. Begin to use the techniques outlined above and you will see the difference.

Staying on schedule can feel restrictive, especially if you're not used to doing it. But it is the best way to stay productive and complete all the tasks on your to-do list.

You will find that when you use your time more productively, you'll have more focus, and you'll limit your level of anxiety.

Secret Strategies Super Affiliates Use to Make $100K @ Year in Affiliate Commissions

Anyone with a web site or opt-in mailing list can join programs like IMC's affiliate program. All you need to do is place an affiliate link on your web site, or in an e-mail promotion, and you're in business.

BUT -- simply putting an affiliate link on your web site in no way guarantees you'll actually be successful as an affiliate. In order to maximize your click-throughs and earn large profits (up to $100,000 per year!) -- in other words, in order to become what we call a super affiliate -- you need to treat your affiliate product like it's your own business.

What makes a super affiliate super?

Fortunately, many IMC products appeal to a wide and diverse range of markets. Lots and lots of people want to hear about ways they can create financial independence. That's why our information products are a good way to start out as an affiliate.

Drive swarms of traffic to your site

Super affiliates know that, in order to make serious money as affiliates, they need to play "the numbers game." Here's what we mean:

Between 1% and 20% of the people who visit your web site will click through your affiliate link. (The range is wide because it all depends on how targeted your traffic is and how good the affiliate link, banner ad, text link, or other promotional tool you're using is.)

Out of every 200 people who actually click through your affiliate link (not just visit your site, but actually click on your affiliate link), only 1 to 2 will buy.

What does this mean? The bottom line is that in order to make one affiliate sale, you'll need to attract at least 500 people to your web site.

Now, I'm not telling this to scare you -- after all, there are plenty of IMC affiliates just like you who easily drive more traffic than this to their sites each and every month. I just want you to be aware that it takes a bit of work.

So how do you go about driving more people to your site? There are a number of strategies that super affiliates use to keep visitors coming:

Achieving your financial dreams thru a network marketing opportunity. This is absolutely possible. But...you must have an effective system of duplication.

This article will deal with identifying what an effective system is. One  that has documented experienced networkers literally calling & emailing an enroller looking to get involved with what you are doing.

Most people enter into a network marketing opportunity without recognizing the enormous odds against their success without having an effective system. The fact is, more than 90% of people are out of the business within three months that don't have the right system. While every industry has a failure rate, the 90% plus rate for network marketing is a huge failure rate.

What is not talked about is the 87% success rate of those with an effective system that causes networkers to reach out to you first with a high degree of interest in what you are doing.

Are there actions you can take to help you becoming one of the 90% plus group? Yes, there are things you can do. In general the most important thing you can do is what you don’t do. Don’t do the things everyone else does. How Promoting Your Network Marketing Business Too Much Will Hurt You

What?!

Why would anyone suggest that you not promote your Network Marketing  business too much?

Well, let me ask you something here:

Are you trying to make more money for yourself and your team OR would you rather see more money and attention brought to the company you are promoting?

That may seem like a dumb question, but the WAY you are marketing and promoting your business says more about that subject than your response to it.

In other words, if you spend the majority of your time talking about or promoting the actual company  you represent instead of YOURSELF and an effective system, what is the message you are actually portraying to your prospects?

It is this:

'This company is so great - the products sell themselves, the compensation plan is killer, the founders have the biggest heart, and on and on, but getting you in my company is what I'm trying to do here'

So, where exactly do you come in? What makes you needed if the company is so great and that's all you are talking about; why would people be attracted to you personally?

In essence, you are simply a glorified sales rep and not a true independent marketer, doing it this way.

(Now, please don't get upset and close your mind here. Just hear me out and make your own decision at the end of this article.)

This brings up questions like: If the products sell themselves, why does your company need you? If the comp plan is the best, then why are there people in other networking companies making more than people in your company? If this is such a great opportunity, then why do you need to track people down to tell them all about how great it really is? Why do so many networkers talk more about their company and products than they do their own children?

The deal is, your company does need you because you bring in the key component that they may not be able to achieve on their own - which is relationships and creative marketers.

Getting back to the main point here:

* Instead of spending so much time promoting and building up a company you represent, wouldn't it be a better business decision to promote and build up YOURSELF more and an effective system for success?

What if you switched gears and instead of attracting and linking people to your network marketing company; you attracted and linked people to YOU, and then had the power to control where you direct and lead those people?

Something that happens quite a bit in this business is companies that up and close all of a sudden or get raided by the FDA or the Government, or have a financial crisis, or change the comp plan, etc.

Just the same is the fact that your prospects now have many great network marketing companies and products to choose from and can be much more selective about who they deal with in their decision of those companies.

What this means to you is that if you are not attracting people to you FIRST,an an effective system for success, people have no real reason to join in business with you specifically. 

What do you have to offer that any other rep doesn't have?

So, let me give an example here. Say you have a prospect who you are trying to get as a rep in your business:

You paint this awesome picture of your company (all the benefits and features) to your prospect and try to get them involved.

Well, they decide for whatever reason, that they do not want to become a rep with your company and they move on.

You have just lost your chance with that prospect because all you had to offer them was your opportunity and nothing more. They will not come back to you unless they decide they want to join that particular company, and even then they might find a crossline rep they like more than you and join with them. They have no other use for you, and you have no more attractiveness to them.

Now, what about this:

Contrast this by attracting people to you FIRST (by positioning yourself as an expert in your field) and giving them something of value (such as a free informational generic newsletter, Ebook, webinar, etc.) and then directing them to the course that is best for them including your primary business.

Doing it this way can allow you to be attractive to prospects at all times, and even if they don't join you in your primary business, they are still connected with you and not just sold on your company. They trust you and consider you more of a help than of a annoying sales rep who thinks their particular company is the best thing out there.

It's very easy to find network marketers who are in love with their company and spend all of their time praising their company and it's products, conventions, and all of that stuff.

However, it's rare when you find someone who attracts people to them first through correct positioning, and is able to more effectively help prospects above and beyond their business opportunity.

Sure we should be proud to represent the company we are with, but they are not the be all end all. They are merely a means to an end. If you are a true independent marketer, you don't have to rely so much on driving every person to your primary company because you are bringing people to you first, an an effective system for success.Then you have the chance to help them much more than just getting them in your business opportunity. You have much more to offer.

Not only that, but regular network marketers are a dime a dozen. People don't want to work with the average Joe networker. Why would they, anyway (the statistics of the masses are terrible)?

People want to deal with someone who they can trust and someone who can give them more information than just the typical sales pitch of their particular company that every other rep is also using. I mean, most everyone says their particular company is the best, their 'system' is the best, yada, yada. Who really cares? Prospects have heard it all before. They want results and they want someone who is different and who gives before they get.

You are either independently unique,  or you are simply following the followers.

The great news is: It's all your choice! So choose wisely

Here's one of the biggest lies about network marketing  “that the average person can excel at this”. This is  one of the lies in network marketing you must know up front. Sure anyone can succeed but not without being willing to learn how to become above average.

The truth is, average won't cut it in network marketing because to succeed, a person needs to draw on reserves of patience and perseverance. and most don't have the will to do this. What most are looking for is a  get rick quick scheme which really  is designed to take their money rather than make them money. This raises the question as to why those recruiting new people into the business make the statement that anyone can do this.

Lies About Network Marketing

Network marketing is not meant for the average everyday person. To excel in the network marketing business world a person has to be above average mentally. Being extraordinary means that you operate on a level where very few achieve to get and the competition is not very large.

So the question is what's the best way to attract people to you?... The answer is by being above average and branding you NOT your network marketing company. It's a common human trait that people like to follow those who can lead them to where they want to go.

Most people won't try, yet to become a leader in network marketing  only requires setting the  example for success and having a simple system of duplication.

The question you should ask yourself is do you really want to be with average people? Or are you attracted to people who are just average? The answer is probably no and it's natural to want to gravitate towards successful people.

So it would be natural that if you showed above average traits then people would gravitate towards you. Above average in network marketing today is being proactive online; updating your web properties, writing articles, emailing your downline with regular tips...you get the picture.

"The 7 Great Lies of Networking" may have caught some people’s attention and caused many to become uncomfortable but let’s face some facts. When you converse with people who are interested in network marketing do you make the mistake of telling them the business is for the everyday average person?

Let’s face it. We all have those difficult customers to whom we are required to sell. From the demanding, abrasive buyer to the individual who never seems to make a buying decision, we encounter challenging people on a regular basis. Part of the reason this happens is due to the disconnect we have because of conflicting personalities. This article will look at the four key types of people and how to improve your results with each.

Direct Donna. Donna is very direct in her approach. She tends to be forceful and always wants to dominate or control the sales call. Her behavior is aggressive, she points at you while she talks, interrupts your to challenge you, and she seldom cares about hearing the details of your new product or service. Instead, she demands that you “cut to chase” and “tell me the bottom line.” Donna is very results-focused and goal-oriented and hates wasting time.

To achieve the best sales results with this individual you need to be more direct and assertive. Tell her at the beginning of the sales call or meeting that you know how busy she is and how valuable her time is. Tell her that you will “get right to the point” and focus your conversation on the results she will achieve by using you product or service. Resist the temptation to back down if she confronts you because you will lose her respect. To Donna, it is not personal, it’s just business.

Lastly, be direct in asking for her business—you don’t have to dance around this issue.

Talkative Tim. Tim is a gregarious and outgoing person but very ego-centric. He is often late for your meetings and his constant interruptions and long stories cause your sales calls to go beyond the scheduled time. He appears to be more concerned with listening to himself talk which is frustrating because you don’t always get enough time to discuss your solution.

Relationships are very important to Talkative Tim so invest more time in social conversation. Even if you don’t see the point in this, he will appreciate the gesture and will like you more. This person often makes buying decisions on intuition and how he feels about the sales person.

Be careful not to challenge Tim because he will feel rejected and when this happens he will “shut down” and become unresponsive. During your sales presentation, tell him how good your solution will make him look to others in the company or how his status or image will improve. In other words, appeal to his ego.

Steady Eddie. Soft-spoken, Eddie is a “nice” fellow who seems more focused on his team and coworkers than on his personal results. He is very quiet compared to some of your other prospects and can be difficult to read. But most frustrating is his reluctance to make a buying decision. Eddie’s mantra seems to be “I’m still thinking about but thanks for following up.”

Structure and security is important to these people and it is difficult for Eddie to make changes. He often contemplates how the decision will affect other people within the organization. That means you need to slow down the sales process, demonstrate how your solution will benefit the team, and remove as much risk from the decision-making process as possible. Soften your voice and make sure your sales presentation flows in a logical manner. Use words like “fair” “logical” and “your team” in your presentation.

Analytical Alice. She reads every point and specification about your product or service and regardless of how much information you give Alice, she always wants more, including written guarantees and back up documentation. She is very difficult to read and it is extremely difficult to get her engaged in an open conversation because personal feelings and emotions do not enter the picture when Alice makes a decision.

Whenever possible, give Alice a written, bullet-point agenda of your meeting—beforehand. Ideally, email it to her a few days in advance so she can prepare herself. Make sure it is completely free of typos, spelling mistakes and punctuation errors. When you meet, follow the agenda in perfect order and if you make any type of claim, have supporting documentation available for her to read.

While the approach to use with each of these people may not make sense to you or seem completely rational, it is critical to recognize that how you naturally and instinctively sell may not be the best way to get results with someone else. Modifying your approach and style, even briefly, will help you better connect with your customers and prospects which means you will generate better sales.

We read a lot about ways to convert your leads into customers, and that's still a huge struggle for a lot of people. However, people forget about the importance of improving the relationships you have with your existing customers.

We all know that it costs more time and money to attract a new customer than it does to keep an old one, but so often people forget to take the necessary actions to keep their customers happy. If this is your only goal, then you can create a plan to make them just happy enough to continue buying your products. However, if turning your customers into loyal product evanglist's is your goal, then you need to plan for it right from the start.

For anyone in network marketing it's important to remember that often times an ecstatic customer can become a superstar distributor. That means that really investing the time into your customers could mean the difference between a handful of unexcited customers and a downline of passionate distributors building a booming business for you.

So how do you go about creating this kind of customer loyalty and excitement? Quite simply you need to build a strong relationship with each of your customers, and you can't build relationships without communication and a sense of give and take.

If this is your goal then you'll need to communicate with your customers more than once every couple of months asking them to place another order. That's why you should spend some time right away to create a follow up plan for your customers if you don't already have one. You'll also need a system where you can track what stage of your plan everyone is on, and know who you talked to about what.

Your follow up plan should cater to the lifestyle of your customers. If your customers are extremely busy and spend a lot of time on the computer, then most of your follow up could be done by email. If most of your customers are people you know on some level, then your follow up could include taking them out for coffee or talking over the phone. A good follow up plan will generally include a combination of different types of contact with your customers.

Building a solid relationship with your customers is no different from any other type of relationship; you need to give and take. Try and make sure that all of your contact with them isn't based solely around new products they can buy from you or seeking referrals. Offer them some value from time to time with no direct benefit to yourself. Tell them something they may not know about a product they've already bought, or offer them a discount off their next order.

Once you've come up with the right follow up plan for your customers, it's important to find a system to track what you have done, and what to do next. A pen and notebook will only work for so long before it becomes too stressful and overwhelming to manage.

There are some systems available that will let you track all of your customer information. The best ones automate some of the follow up for you by sending out emails you've written in advance or automatically scheduling calls and tasks for you.

Once you have a system to help build loyal product evangelists, start building. There are probably a handful of customers you could follow up with right now.

How Success & Speed Work Together

I've written a lot about the importance of acting sooner rather than later, without waiting to figure out everything in advance. Human motivation certainly plays a role here. Nothing says this more succinctly than marketing guru Joe Vitale's aphorism: Money loves speed.

When I mentioned this in a recent teleseminar, one of the callers asked if I could be more specific. He wanted to know why money loves speed.

Before I answer that, let me say that this is not just true about money. It's true in all areas of life. I don't recall ever succeeding at something because I got there last.

  • If you want to buy tickets from a scalper for a big game that's sold out, get there first. Tickets love speed.
  • If you want a job that you just found out about, get there first. Jobs love speed.
  • If you want to win the guy or gal who has your heart pounding, get there first. Guys and gals love speed.
  • If you want to get the investment property that just came on the market, get there first. Investment properties love speed.

And so on. Because success, in general, loves speed.

So, why does success love speed? The answer is to be found in the dictionary. Action is defined as "the causation of change." Whatever result you want, it's a change from what you now have. By definition, then, a change has to take place for you to get from your present status to that result.

Following are some of the more important reasons why I believe action begets results.

1. When you do too much planning, there's a tendency to think of one reason after another why what you're contemplating won't work.

Many of the reasons you come up with may be correct. But the important thing is that it doesn't matter. Why? Because, as you move forward, circumstances continually change -- and those changes often render irrelevant many of the concerns you may have had before taking action. In other words, don't try to figure out steps two, three, and four before taking step one.

I read that Joe Karbo said he ran his first ad for The Lazy Man's Way to Riches (a million-copy seller) before he even began to write the book! In fact, I read that the ad he wrote served as an outline for the book itself. Talk about going against conventional wisdom...

2. When you procrastinate, you tend to lose your enthusiasm.

Homeostasis -- the tendency to live with existing conditions and avoid change -- sets in. You get comfortable with the way things are and allow your great idea to fade into the comfort zone of oblivion. But when you take action, your creative juices flow faster, your resourcefulness kicks into high gear, and the things, people, and circumstances you need to accomplish your objectives are drawn to you almost like magic. As a result, your motivation to succeed becomes elevated.

This is not hocus-pocus. I've done it enough times to be able to assure you that it really works.

3. Even though changing circumstances often negate many initial concerns you may have had, they can also place new obstacles in your path.

If you wait too long before taking action, the opportunity may become less and less appealing to you as those obstacles start to make their appearance. I wrote about this danger in my recent blog post "Why You Don't Need To Be A Creative Genius To Make Money Online" under the auspices of the Fiddle Theory. The Fiddle Theory states: "The longer you fiddle around with a deal, the greater the odds that it will never close."

Time is your ally when you take action, but time is a two-sided coin. If you hesitate or procrastinate, time becomes your worst enemy. As a general rule, I assume that if I take action, perceived problems will tend to disappear and that the more I hesitate, the more time there is for new obstacles to make their appearance.

4. Perhaps the most important reason of all for taking action now is that time is finite.

No matter how proficient you are, you can only accomplish so much in a lifetime. Every second that's wasted reduces the totality of what you can accomplish by one second. Some people maintain that a constant feeling of urgency to accomplish more is stressful, but I find the opposite to be true. I feel more stress when I procrastinate -- when I'm not doing what I know I should be doing. There's not a worse feeling in the world than to be conscious of the fact that your finite supply of time is ticking away while you focus on straightening your desk drawer.

Of course, nothing in life is perfect. There will be times when moving too fast can end up hurting you. But, on balance, the empirical evidence derived from my own experience has convinced me that what I gain from moving fast far outweighs the losses I may incur as a result of too little planning.

That being the case, when you fall -- and you will fall -- simply pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and take more action. Success could care less about mistakes. Success loves action -- and human motivation leads to action.

Without a good system for tracking your contacts and helping you follow up with your leads, it doesn't matter how many leads you have, because most of them will slip through the cracks and never go anywhere.

Personally I'd much rather have a few qualified leads and a killer follow up system, to ensure that as many of those leads as possible become customers or distributors.

Before you write your prospect list and certainly before you ever consider buying a lead, you should get a system set up where you can enter your leads names and track all the calls, appointments, and emails you have with your leads, as well schedule your follow up activities.

Lets face it, no matter how amazing your product, or how revolutionary your compensation plan, most people aren't going to buy your product or sign up for your company the first time you talk to them. However, lots of people won't give you a straight “no” right away either. That's why it's so important to create a follow up plan for your leads.

Ultimately you want to get either a “yes” or a “no” from each of your leads. For some people, that may take months and for others it may only take a few days. Having a plan for how you intend to follow up with your leads and a system to keep track of where everyone is in your plan will have a huge impact on the number of sales you make.

When looking for a good system to track your follow up with your leads, look for something that is easy to use and something that will allow you to automate some of your follow up to save you time. While there are several tools available that specialize in one thing like email, contact management or sending email to large lists of people, you will save a lot of money and time if you choose one system that can take care of lots of those things in one place.

Finally, at the end of the day you actually have to take action. Your system should be simple and easy to use, and prompt you to take action. Find something that works, and make sure to consistently and continually follow-up. As they say, ‘The fortune is in the follow-up.'

You don't need to be a marketing genius to have a successful entrepreneurial business. You can get by very well by identifying marketing genius in someone else and leveraging it.

A friend & mentor of mine told me about a friend of his named "John" .

My mentor recently had lunch recently with "John." He owns and runs one of the most successful direct-marketing jewelry businesses in the country. They sell their products directly to their own customers and indirectly through the catalogs of some very large and well-known chain stores.

My mentor shared with me that when he met John, about 15 years ago, his business was doing about $10 million or $20 million annually. Today, it grosses more than $150 million and is very profitable. He credits his success to a database marketing program that he developed over several years.

"I'm no marketing genius," "John" told him. "I don't write copy. I don't come up with amazing ideas. I'm just a careful thinker who looks at the numbers and tries to understand what they mean."

For John, the numbers are customer-response results: how much and how often certain groups of customers make purchases. By reviewing marketing and sales reports, he can identify which advertising campaigns bring in customers with the greatest lifetime value to the business. "When I find a copywriter or marketer who improves lifetime value, I reward them with a slice of the pie. That gives them an incentive to work with me in the future. They do the hard work of coming up with the new ideas and offers. I just have to keep track of their performance and make sure they are well compensated when they succeed."

In the time I've known John,my mentor told me, he's seen him build his business exponentially. He's seen him do that while many of his competitors have struggled and even failed. Included in that group of losers are several bona-fide marketing geniuses. But they made critical marketing mistakes because they didn't pay enough attention to the numbers.

In the direct-response business, nothing is more important than the math.

We all like to come up with the creative breakthrough. But if we neglect the quotidian work, all the bright ideas in the world will not save us.
